Job summary

SAGA Truck & Van is recruiting a workshop technician in Hatfield to service and repair vehicles to Mercedes-Benz standards. You will diagnose faults, service electrical and mechanical systems, and use diagnostic equipment with minimal supervision.

The role requires a City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, and a full UK driving licence. Shift includes 45 hours/week with a 30-minute unpaid break, plus a discretionary bonus and other benefits.

Qualifications

• Formal qualification in vehicle maintenance and repair (City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3).
• Full UK driving licence required.
• Ability to follow instructions and procedures with attention to detail.
• Strong problem-solving skills and technical automotive knowledge.
• Good communication and ability to use modern diagnostic equipment.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, maintain and repair vehicle problems adhering to Mercedes-Benz guidelines.
• Service vehicles to a high standard and work on electrical and mechanical systems.
• Use diagnostic equipment and complete job cards clearly.
• Follow repair processes from fault analysis to completion.
• Support other Technicians in the Workshop and check subsystems.

Job Overview

To service and repair vehicles in a safe and economical manner employing such skills and knowledge as may be required, including the ability to diagnose fault with the minimum supervision.

To service, adjust and repair vehicles or components using the tools and equipment provided in safe and proper way, efficiently and within the allocated time and to the required standard.

Main Responsibilities

• Diagnosing, maintaining and repairing vehicle problems while adhering to Mercedes-Benz guidelines
• Servicing of vehicles to a high standard
• Working on electrical and mechanical systems
• Ability to use diagnostic equipment
• Carry out scheduled safety inspections and report any rectifications required
• Complete job cards clearly and accurately
• You must be capable of following the repair process from fault analysis to completion
• Repairing and replacing parts
• Checking vehicle subsystems
• Supporting other Technicians in the Workshop
• Using and understanding Star diagnosis

Hours: Monday to Friday 1.00pm to 10.30pm, 45 hours per week, with a 30 minute unpaid break

Shift Allowance in addition to salary.
