Job summary

SAGA Truck & Van is a leading Mercedes-Benz distributor with a nationwide footprint in the United Kingdom, seeking an experienced HGV technician to diagnose, service, and repair heavy goods vehicles.

You will perform inspections, diagnose faults, and carry out maintenance on a range of truck models while ensuring safety, compliance, and high-quality workmanship. A collaborative workshop environment and focus on customer experience are emphasized.

Qualifications

• Experience in diagnosing, repairing and maintaining Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs).
• Strong understanding of vehicle systems (mechanical, electrical and electronic).

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain Heavy Goods Vehicles to the highest standards of quality and safety.
• Perform inspections, routine maintenance, and repairs on various truck models. Use your technical expertise to troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical and electrical issues.
• Collaborate with the team to ensure efficient workflow and exceptional service delivery.
• Keep accurate records of work carried out and parts used, maintaining thorough documentation
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and relevant departments to support an efficient workflow, minimise vehicle downtime and ensure a seamless experience for our customers.
• Provide clear and accurate technical information to colleagues and customers where required to support effective decision-making and the smooth progression of vehicle repairs.
• Ensure all tools, equipment and workshop facilities are used correctly and maintained in a safe and serviceable condition.
• Comply with all company policies, procedures and relevant legal requirements relating to vehicle maintenance, workshop operations and health and safety.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.

Job Requirements

To diagnose, service, repair and maintain Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) to a high standard, ensuring all vehicles are safe, reliable, compliant with legal and manufacturer requirements, and maintained in accordance with company and Mercedes-Benz standards.
