Job summary

Skyline Roofing Centres is seeking a reliable Van Driver / Yard Operative for our Surbiton branch. The role splits time between driving a company van to customer sites and maintaining an orderly yard. A full UK driving licence and yard/warehouse experience are essential, with forklift experience a bonus.

Working hours are Mon-Thu 7:00–16:30, Fri 7:00–16:00, and alternate Saturdays 7:30–10:30. Benefits include a discretionary bonus, life assurance, EAP, cycle-to-work, and long service awards.

Qualifications

• Full, clean UK driving licence is essential.
• Yard/warehouse experience required; forklift experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Deliver goods safely to customer sites using the company van.
• Operate forklift trucks to move stock (when trained).
• Welcoming and assisting trade and retail customers.
• Load, unload, pick and pack orders efficiently.
• Keep the yard and warehouse tidy and organised.
• Serve customers promptly with the correct materials.
• Receive and check deliveries, report missing or damaged items.

Salary: £31,485-£32,430 pa

Are you looking for a stable, hands‑on role with a supportive team? Our friendly Surbiton branch is looking for a reliable Van Driver / Yard Operative to join us.

While we offer comprehensive training on our products and systems, you will need a full UK driving licence, yard or warehouse experience plus it would be great if you also had some forklift experience to hit the ground running.

Working Hours

• Monday to Thursday: 7:00am – 4:30pm


• Friday: 7:00am – 4:00pm


• Alternate Saturdays: 7:30am – 10:30am

The Role at a Glance

Your time will be split between hitting the road and managing our busy yard. Key duties include:

• Driving & Delivery: Delivering goods safely to customer sites using the company van.


• Forklift Operations: Safely operating forklift trucks to move stock (once trained).


• Customer Service: Welcoming and assisting trade and retail customers.


• Logistics: Efficiently loading, unloading, picking, and packing orders.


• Yard Upkeep: Keeping the warehouse clean, tidy, and organised.

Key Responsibilities

• Customer Care: Serve customers promptly, ensuring they get the exact materials they need.


• Inbound Stock: Receive, check, and log incoming deliveries, immediately reporting any missing or damaged items.


• Stock Management: Ensure stock is clearly labelled and alert the Branch Manager when items run low.


• Safety First: Maintain forklifts correctly and handle all stock in strict line with Health & Safety guidelines.


• Teamwork: Work closely with colleagues to keep daily branch operations running smoothly.
