Job summary

SSE plc is recruiting for a Utility Arborist / Tree Cutter to join our in-house vegetation management team in Scotland. You will work on vegetation around overhead and underground networks, substations and Transmission assets to keep the network safe and reliable.

The role requires experience in tree cutting/arboriculture with NPTC certificates; driving licence is essential and occasional travel may be required. We value safety, clear communication and a flexible approach.

Qualifications

• Experience in tree cutting, forestry or arboriculture with relevant NPTC certificate units for chainsaws.
• Experience of working with power lines; tree climbing is advantageous.
• Safety conscious with ability to adapt to changing priorities.
• Full, current driving licence required due to the rural nature of the role and potential away-from-home work.

Responsibilities

• Involved in vegetation management around our networks and substations to ensure arboriculture work is completed.
• Work with team to manage trees and vegetation near transmission networks.
• Understand industry legislation and safety guidelines for work near power lines.
• Carry out requested works safely and efficiently to meet delivery targets.
• Coordinate with internal and external teams to maintain high work standards.
