Job summary

SSE is seeking a Utility Arboriculture chargehand to join our busy team. The role covers a cyclical tree cutting programme and reactive work, with a focus on safety and leadership within the crew. Travel is required and base is Swindon or Oxford, within 30 minutes of depots.

You will supervise operations around our distribution network, ensuring safe, efficient tree work near power lines and supporting customers across sites and voltages.

Qualifications

• Experience in forestry/arboriculture is required.
• Climbing experience is essential and familiarity with working near power lines is advantageous.
• High regard for safety and adherence to safety guidelines is a must.

Responsibilities

• Lead tree cutting and vegetation management across the distribution network.
• Coordinate field teams to ensure safe, compliant operations and timely delivery of works.
