Job summary

TXP is seeking an experienced User Researcher to support digital services within a complex Home Office environment. You will conduct research to understand user needs and shape service design, working across notebooks, appointment booking, and order restoration areas.

The role requires conducting usability tests, interviews and workshops within multidisciplinary teams, turning findings into actionable insights, with active SC clearance and on-site presence in Telfordpart-time pattern.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a User Researcher on digital or technology programmes.
  • Ability to plan, conduct and analyse user research independently.
  • Strong understanding of user-centred design and Agile delivery.
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Confident conducting usability testing, interviews and other methods.
  • Ability to translate research into clear insights and recommendations.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Prior Home Office, Central Government or GDS experience is advantageous.
  • Understanding of GDS Service Standard and accessibility requirements is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct user research across digital services and products.
  • Identify user needs, behaviours, pain points and opportunities for improvement.
  • Design and deliver qualitative and quantitative research activities, including interviews, usability testing, workshops and contextual research.
  • Analyse research findings and translate them into clear, actionable insights.
  • Work closely with Service Designers, Interaction Designers, Product Managers, Business Analysts and delivery teams.
  • Support iterative design and development by testing concepts, prototypes and live services with users.
  • Present research findings clearly to delivery teams and senior stakeholders.
  • Ensure research considers accessibility and the needs of users with different levels of digital capability.
  • Maintain research artefacts and contribute to the wider evidence base across the programme.

User Researcher

Rate: £525/day Inside IR35

Duration: 4 months initially

Clearance: Active SC required

Working pattern: 2 days pw in Telford

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced User Researcher to support the delivery of digital services within a complex Home Office environment.

The role will sit within a multidisciplinary delivery team, conducting research to understand user needs, behaviours and pain points and using those findings to shape the design and development of services.

The successful candidate may support a number of service areas, including Digital Notebooks, Manage Appointment Booking, and Restoring Order & Control.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and conduct user research across digital services and products
  • Identify user needs, behaviours, pain points and opportunities for improvement
  • Design and deliver qualitative and quantitative research activities, including interviews, usability testing, workshops and contextual research
