Job summary

Sodexo is hiring a Plumber to support Northumbria University across multiple sites in Newcastle and Gateshead. You will perform planned, reactive and compliance-related maintenance to ensure safe, well-maintained living and learning environments for students and staff.

The role requires plumbing qualifications, a UK driving licence, and the ability to work in occupied spaces with an on-call rota. Excellent customer service and CAFM experience are valued.

Qualifications

• Essential plumbing qualifications including NVQ/City & Guilds.
• Water Regulations qualification or equivalent competence.
• Full UK Driving Licence holder.
• Experience in planned and reactive maintenance environments.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance on plumbing and mechanical systems.
• Diagnose and repair plumbing faults quickly and effectively.
• Maintain and repair hot and cold-water systems and sanitaryware.
• Respond to emergency leaks, blockages, water outages and breakdowns.
• Complete plumbing upgrades, replacements and minor installation projects.
• Update maintenance activities accurately using CAFM systems such as Maximo.
• Work professionally within occupied student residences and academic facilities.
• Participate in an on-call rota supporting a 24/7 operation.
• Support sustainability and water-efficiency initiatives across the estate.
