Job summary

Sodexo is seeking a skilled Plumber to join our Technical Services team supporting Northumbria University in Gateshead. You’ll deliver planned and reactive maintenance across university facilities, ensuring safe, comfortable living and learning environments for students.

The role requires a Full UK Driving Licence, flexibility across sites in Newcastle and Gateshead, and on-call duties on a 1 in 4 rota. Salary £40,000–£42,000 per annum plus benefits.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 Plumbing & Heating or equivalent.
• Water Regulations qualification or equivalent.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Experience in planned and reactive maintenance.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance on plumbing and mechanical systems.
• Diagnose and repair plumbing faults quickly and effectively.
• Maintain and repair water systems, sanitaryware, pipework, pumps, taps and showers.
• Respond to emergencies and support water hygiene and Legionella programmes.
• Update maintenance activities using CAFM systems such as Maximo.
• Work in occupied student residences and academic facilities.
• Participate in an on-call rota for a 24/7 operation.
• Support sustainability and water-efficiency initiatives.
