Job summary

Propel Holdings UK Limited is seeking a Team Underwriting Manager to lead and develop the Underwriting Team, ensuring sound lending judgement and timely escalation of complex applications. You will coach, monitor performance, and help embed new controls and technology within a regulated financial services environment.

The role focuses on managing daily workflow, quality, and customer outcomes while collaborating with QA, Compliance, and Technology to drive improvements and outcomes.

Qualifications

• Experience within underwriting, lending operations, or a regulated financial services environment.
• Proven ability to coach, mentor, and develop junior staff.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills with focus on customer outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Support daily workflow, queue management, and coverage for the underwriting team.
• Act as the first escalation point for complex applications and policy questions.
• Coach and develop Underwriters through side-by-side reviews and feedback.
• Assist onboarding, development plans, and targeted training to address knowledge gaps.
• Monitor productivity, quality metrics, and customer outcomes; identify trends and risks.
• Support audits and quality assurance, addressing findings through coaching and process improvements.
• Ensure adherence to lending policy and regulatory requirements (FCA Consumer Duty).
• Help implement new controls, tools, and automation; collaborate with QA, Training, Compliance, Product and Tech.
