Job summary

Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust in Truro, United Kingdom, invites an Ultrasonographer – Advanced Practitioner to join an established NHS ultrasound department performing around 40,000 scans annually.

You will perform abdominal and gynecological exams, report independently, and work with Consultant Radiologists across hospital and community sites. Flexible 37.5-hour week; visa sponsorship available; closing date 8 November 2026.

Qualifications

• Postgraduate qualification in general medical and gynaecological ultrasound, CASE-accredited.
• HCPC registration or registration with the relevant governing body.
• Proven competence in performing ultrasound examinations.
• Ability to report ultrasound findings independently.
• Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD).
• Ability to work autonomously and manage pressure.

Responsibilities

• Perform abdominal and gynaecological ultrasound examinations and produce independent reports.
• Deliver safe, accurate and compassionate ultrasound services.
• Work autonomously while maintaining high clinical and professional standards.
• Rotate between the main hospital and community locations as required.
• Collaborate with Consultant Radiologists and other healthcare professionals.
• Support radiology training and the development of trainee sonographers.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and use imaging systems effectively.
• Participate in service delivery across a seven-day working week.
• Prioritise workload and maintain attention to detail under pressure.
