Job summary

JGA Recruitment Group | B Corp™ is partnering with a large-scale UK organisation to recruit an experienced Payroll Manager into its established in-house payroll function. You will own day-to-day payroll operations, lead a team of six and drive improvements across processes and systems.

You will oversee end-to-end UK payroll processing, stay compliant with PAYE, NI, pensions and statutory payments, and collaborate with HR, Reward, HR Systems and Finance.

Qualifications

• Significant end-to-end UK payroll experience within a sizeable, complex in-house environment.
• Proven experience managing and developing payroll teams – people leadership is a key part of this hire.
• Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation, PAYE, NI, pensions and statutory payments.
• Experience working with a major payroll system; ResourceLink would be highly advantageous but isn’t essential.
• Strong systems knowledge, ideally including upgrades, testing and payroll change.
• Experience within retail or another high-volume environment would be beneficial but isn’t essential.
• A confident, hands-on approach with the ability to manage stakeholders and improve processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of six, driving performance and accountability.
• Oversee end-to-end UK payroll processing, controls, reconciliations, BACS and third-party payments.
• Act as the escalation point for complex payroll queries and technical issues.
• Manage year-end activities including P60s, P11Ds and PSA.
• Own payroll controls, compliance and operational procedures.
• Drive process improvements, standardisation and greater efficiency across the payroll function.
• Manage payroll systems, upgrades, testing, integrations and technical change.
• Support audits, HMRC reviews and wider compliance activity.
