Job summary

QinetiQ Limited in Farnborough is seeking a Head of Technical Safety & High Hazard Assurance to lead the UK HAM framework and act as the UK Technical Safety Authority for complex safety-critical activities.

You will provide independent challenge to senior leaders, shape risk-based decisions and ensure ALARP compliance across multi-discipline programmes while promoting a proactive safety culture. This is a permanent on-site role with SC clearance required.

Qualifications

• Extensive HAM expertise in safety risk control, hazard identification and ALARP principles.
• Recognised Technical Safety Authority experience interpreting legislation, standards and policy.
• Deep knowledge of defence high-hazard operations (OME, RF, Laser, Diving) and related regulations.

Responsibilities

• Own and continuously improve the UK High Hazard Management framework with governance, assurance and compliance.
• Act as the recognised UK Technical Safety Authority, providing expert interpretation and independent challenge.
• Maintain oversight of high-hazard risk across disciplines and ensure ALARP-tolerable levels.
• Lead high-hazard governance activities, regulatory engagement, audits and risk-review processes.
• Provide strategic leadership on risk management to senior leaders and regulatory bodies.
• Develop capability and safety culture, overseeing reviewers and chairs and driving continuous improvement.
