Job summary

veSync (EU) seeks a UK-based Patent Engineer to partner with product designers, engineers and the IP team in China. The role emphasizes early-stage innovation assessment, identifying patent opportunities and risks, and delivering practical recommendations for development decisions.

The successful candidate will support patent matters in Europe while coordinating with China-based IP team and selected US matters.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or above in engineering, science, technology or related discipline.
• Professional experience in patents, technology assessment or related field.
• Strong technical understanding in mechanical engineering and product structure; electromechanical systems and software are a plus.
• Experience communicating practical recommendations to non-IP stakeholders.
• Working knowledge of UK, European and US patent systems and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assess early-stage concepts with designers and engineers to identify patentable inventions and risks.
• Coordinate with external patent attorneys to translate advice into actionable steps.
• Conduct patent searches and prepare landscape analyses to support IP strategy.
• Support UK/European patent portfolio planning and tracking of key risks.
• Assist with design registrations and cross-border IP processes.
• Collaborate with UK/China IP teams and external advisers on cross-border matters.
