Job summary

EIP in Leeds is seeking a Trainee Patent Attorney specializing in electro‑mechanical inventions. The role is full‑time and permanent with hybrid working, starting September 2027 (earlier considered).

From day one you will have hands‑on work and regular contact with clients and inventors, with opportunities across robotics, automation, control systems and connected devices. You will hold an academic degree in physics, mechatronics, mechanical or electrical engineering (PhD welcome).

Qualifications

• Academic degree in physics, mechatronics, mechanical or electrical engineering.
• PhD welcome, but not essential; capability matters.
• Excellent written and verbal English.
• Meticulous attention to detail and initiative.
• Ability to work independently and communicate complex ideas clearly.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on work from day one with regular client and inventor contact.
• Work across robotics, automation, control systems and connected devices.
• Support drafting and prosecution of electro‑mechanical patent matters.
