Job summary

EIP in Leeds is seeking a Trainee Patent Attorney specializing in electro‑mechanical inventions. The role is full‑time and permanent with hybrid working, starting September 2027 (earlier considered).

From day one you will have hands‑on work and regular contact with clients and inventors, with opportunities across robotics, automation, control systems and connected devices. You will hold an academic degree in physics, mechatronics, mechanical or electrical engineering (PhD welcome).

• PhD welcome, but not essential; capability matters.
• Excellent written and verbal English.
• Meticulous attention to detail and initiative.

We are looking for a trainee patent attorney to join our Leeds team and focus on electro-mechanical inventions and innovation. The role will include hands‑on work from day one with regular client and inventor contact. You will have the opportunity to work across robotics, automation, control systems and connected devices, with scope to move into medical devices and clean technologies. This is hands‑on, high‑impact work for market‑leading engineering clients.
