Job summary

Barnsley College is seeking a dedicated Tutorial Learning Mentor in the Childcare and Health department to support learners and help them progress through their studies. You will provide pastoral support to a caseload, work with staff, parents and external agencies, and identify learners at risk to improve engagement, attendance and confidence through targeted one-to-one or small group interventions.

Job description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Tutorial Learning Mentor to join our Childcare and Health department.

This rewarding role is focused on supporting learners to overcome barriers to learning, achieve their full potential and successfully progress through their studies.

As a Tutorial Learning Mentor, you will provide pastoral support and guidance to a caseload of learners, working closely with teaching staff, parents, guardians and external agencies to ensure learners receive the support they need.

You will identify learners who may be at risk of underachievement, develop strategies to improve engagement, attendance and confidence, and provide effective one-to-one and small group interventions.

You will play a key role in delivering tutorials, supporting learners with target setting and Personal Learning Plans (PLPs), monitoring progress, encouraging positive behaviours and helping learners to develop the skills and resilience needed for success both within College and beyond.
