Job summary

TeacherActive is partnering with an Alternative Provision to recruit an experienced Multi-Skills Construction Tutor for a three-day-a-week role, with two days in Cromford and one in Mansfield.

The tutor will plan, coordinate and deliver a practical construction programme covering carpentry, painting and decorating, tiling, brickwork and more, helping learners overcome barriers and develop employability, with potential progression to a full-time role.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering practical construction learning.
• Experience in an alternative provision or similar setting is desirable.

Job description

I am currently working with a fantastic Alternative provision who is looking for an experience multi skills tutor (Construction) to join them for a 3 day a week role. (2 days in Cromford and 1 in Mansfield) - This can progress into a full time role.

The Multi-Skills Construction Tutor will be responsible for planning, coordinating and delivering a high-quality programme of practical construction learning. The role will include teaching a range of construction skills which may include carpentry and joinery, painting and decorating, tiling, basic plumbing, basic brickwork, maintenance and general construction skills.

The learners may have experienced significant barriers to education, including anxiety, emotionally based school avoidance, autism, ADHD, communication differences and previous negative educational experiences.

This is not a conventional classroom teaching role. Construction will be used as a meaningful, hands-on learning pathway through which young people can develop practical competence, confidence, problem-solving, resilience, teamwork and employability skills.
