Job summary

1st Staff is seeking a dedicated 1:1 Tutor to support students in the Bournemouth area who have been out of education. You will deliver in-home, personalised tuition sessions tailored to each learner’s needs and emotional wellbeing, helping them rebuild confidence and work towards qualifications.

The role offers flexible hours (2–3 hours per day, five days a week during term time) with potential for extra hours. Experience with SEN/SEMH is essential, and a DBS disclosure is required.

1st Staff are seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Tutor to support students in the Bournemouth area who have been out of education for a period of time. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference by helping students rebuild their confidence, develop key skills, and work towards recognised qualifications — with the potential to return to mainstream or further education.

The Role

You will deliver personalised tuition sessions in the student’s home, tailoring your approach to meet individual learning needs and emotional wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, bespoke 1:1 sessions
• Support students in core subjects (Maths, English, and other key areas as required)
• Build positive, trusting relationships
• Adapt teaching strategies to suit individual learning styles
• Support students with SEN, SEMH, and challenging behaviours

Position Details

• Location: Student’s home & local library
• Role: 1:1 Tutor
• Hours: 2/3 hours per day, 5 days per week (during school hours) per student
