Job summary

Scantec is seeking an experienced Civil/Geotechnical Engineer to work on a major nuclear infrastructure programme in Warrington. The role focuses on tunnelling and underground structures, within a safety-critical setting, requiring clearances and strong governance.

You will collaborate with Lead/Principal Engineers to deliver design and assessment, develop substantiations and support continuous improvement across multidisciplinary teams, ensuring compliance with Eurocodes and ITA guidance.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified Civil, Structural or Geotechnical Engineer with tunnelling experience.
• Experience in nuclear or highly regulated safety-critical sectors preferred.
• Eligible for UK security clearance for the project.

Responsibilities

• Support tunnelling and underground infrastructure design and assessment.
• Produce calculations, models, reports and design documentation.
• Develop substantiation and safety justifications to meet regulatory and governance requirements.
• Undertake feasibility assessments of tunnel construction methods.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop integrated solutions.
• Prepare scopes of work and manage third-party inputs.
• Participate in design reviews and quality assurance activities.
• Ensure designs comply with codes, standards and CDM 2015 obligations.
• Mentor graduate engineers and support knowledge sharing.
