Job summary

Corus Consultancy Limited is seeking a temporary Housing/Support Worker to manage a caseload of 25 clients, delivering strengths-based assessments and move-on planning. The role is hybrid, based from an office in King Cross, London, with some home-working and a 37.5-hour week (Mon-Fri, 9:00-17:00).

Qualifications

  • Experience with mental/physical ill health, challenging behaviour, or substance misuse.
  • Knowledge of client needs assessment and move-on planning.
  • Knowledge of housing pathways and move-on routes to independence.
  • Ability to use person-centered assessment and support planning tools.
  • Ability to collaborate with service providers and agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Hold a caseload of 25 key clients and undertake key working sessions.
  • Co-produce strengths-based and outcome-focused support plans with clients.
  • Assess client risk and develop risk management strategies.
  • Work with agencies to access services and accompany clients to appointments.
  • Identify health needs and help access health services.
  • Support clients to sustain tenancy, reduce debts and maximise income.
  • Encourage participation in activities to improve quality of life (work, education, training).
  • Organise, facilitate and deliver activities, drop-in sessions or groups.
  • Report safeguarding concerns following policies and relevant legislation.

Job description

The successful candidate will be required to work 37.5 hours per week, working Monday - Friday, 9AM - 5PM.

Temporary cover is required for approximately 1 month.

Please note: this is a hybrid working role which involves working from the office in King Cross, supporting clients across the community and occasionally working from home.

In this position, you will be required to:
  • Hold a caseload of 25 key clients and undertake key working sessions
  • Co-produce strengths-based and outcome-focused support, safety and move-on plans with clients, engaging clients in assessment and planning of their support needs
  • Assess client risk and develop risk management strategies with the client, housing provider, and other services delivering support to clients
  • Work with a range of agencies to ensure clients have access to relevant statutory and non-statutory services and benefits, and accompanying clients at appointments where appropriate
  • Identify and assess physical and mental health needs with clients, supporting clients to access health and care services, and helping clients improve their health and wellbeing
  • Support clients to sustain their tenancy, reduce debts and maximise their income
  • Support clients to identify, access and participate in internal and external activities that will enhance their quality of life e.g.
    such as Work, education and training opportunities, social inclusion opportunities
  • Take part in organising, facilitating and delivering activities, drop-in sessions or groups in response to identified client needs or as part of a project wide programme of group work
  • Report and action safeguarding concerns for children and adults at potential or actual risk of harm and neglect in line with Policies and relevant legislation

Please note: this role involves lone working

To apply for this role, you must have;
  • Experience or understanding of the range of approaches appropriate to working with any of the following needs; mental or physical ill health, challenging behaviour, substance misuse, anti-social behaviour and/or offending
  • Understanding of client needs assessment, onboarding into new accommodation, and move-on planning
  • Knowledge of, or willingness to learn about, common health issues & the barriers to health access that people experiencing homelessness may encounter
  • Knowledge of, or willingness to learn about, housing pathways and Move-on routes for people moving from housing with support to independence (hostels, Private Rented Sector, and social housing), and of access to alternative provision (e.g.
    Supported Housing pathways, emergency accommodation)
  • Ability to use a range of personalised assessment and support planning tool and approaches, including motivational interviewing, strengths based and trauma informed support interventions, to deliver best practice initial assessments and casework to clients
  • Ability to deliver successful move in and resettlement support to enable clients to settle into and manage their own tenancy
  • Ability to effectively collaborate and work in partnership with a range of service providers and agencies in order to establish or improve services for clients.
