Job summary

Corus Consultancy in Bishop Auckland is seeking a dedicated care/support worker to join our team. The role offers full-time 37.5 hours or part-time hours, on a rota that covers day and night shifts, with lone working responsibilities.

You will work with young people and individuals affected by homelessness, supporting education, training and employment goals, maintaining records, and coordinating with volunteers and external agencies.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people or those affected by homelessness.
• Knowledge of safeguarding and health and safety procedures.
• Ability to manage a caseload and complete risk assessments.

Responsibilities

• Hold a caseload of 8 key clients and conduct regular key working sessions to create and review Support Plans.
• Ensure safety and wellbeing of clients following safeguarding procedures.
• Provide personalised, flexible support and involve clients in decision-making and activities.
• Collaborate with external agencies while following data protection protocols.
• Support clients to access Education, Training, Employment and Volunteering opportunities.
• Maintain a safe, welcoming environment and assist in client transitions.
• Coordinate and support volunteers and resident engagement activities.
• Maintain clear, accurate records.
• Manage building security.

Job description

The successful candidate will be required to work either full-time (37.5 hours per week) or part-time hours, working across Monday to Sunday on a rota basis, covering a mixture of day shifts and night shifts.

Responsibilities

In this position, you will be expected to:

• Hold a caseload of 8 key clients and conduct regular key working sessions resulting in agreed Support Plans which are reviewed regularly
• Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all clients, following safeguarding and emergency procedures as needed
• Provide personalised, flexible and creative support, involving clients in decision‑making and encouraging participation in activities
• Collaborate with external agencies to support clients, adhering to data protection and information sharing protocols
• Support clients to access Education, Training, Employment and Volunteering opportunities aligned with their goals and aspirations
• Contribute to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment, including preparing accommodation for new clients and supporting their transition
• Assist in coordinating and supporting volunteers and promoting client involvement initiatives and residents' meetings
• Maintain clear, accurate records
• Manage the security of the building

Please note; this role involves lone working.

Requirements

• Experience working with young people or those affected by homelessness
• Understanding of the needs of individuals facing homelessness, mental health issues, substance misuse, or the care system
• Experience holding a caseload of key clients and knowledge of risk assessments, support planning, safeguarding and health and safety procedures
• Experience of managing challenging behaviour, including responding calmly to crisis
