Job summary
We are seeking to appoint a junior clinical fellow at the Royal London Hospital in the Department of Surgical Gynaecological Oncology. The initial appointment is for six months, with a possible extension to twelve months. The post involves working within our award-winning Cancer Centre of excellence as part of a multidisciplinary team. The team includes 6 Consultant Gynaecological Oncologists, 3 sub-specialty fellows, 2 research clinical fellows, and 8 junior clinical fellows, including this position. The fellow will actively contribute to ongoing research in the department.
The surgical gynaecological oncology inpatient service is managed on the surgical ward, with 7 all-day operating lists across 4 days each week (including 3 parallel lists and 1 single list). Many surgeries are performed laparoscopically and robotically, enabling rapid patient turnover. Ultra-radical ovarian cancer surgeries are also performed. The inpatient service is supported by dedicated ward staff with expertise in gynaecological oncology nursing and physiotherapy, as well as clinical nurse specialists. The post-holder will liaise with Medical, Clinical Oncology, and Palliative Medicine teams and will see inpatient referrals.
Main duties of the job
This position does not contribute towards general Obstetrics and Gynaecology or surgical training, making it suitable for surgical or Obstetrics and Gynaecology trainees.
