Job summary

The Mead Educational Trust is seeking a visionary Trust Director of Maths to lead the teaching and learning of Mathematics across its secondary schools. Based in the Central Team, you will drive curriculum design, teaching quality and student attainment.

You will coach leaders and teachers, shape a Maths strategy aligned to KS3-5, and deliver sustained improvement across the trust. Excellent communication and influential leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience leading Mathematics education within a secondary school setting.
• Recent highly effective teaching of Mathematics with a track record of strong student outcomes.
• Experience leading Mathematics improvement across a department, school or group of schools.
• Evidence of developing others through collaboration, coaching and professional development.
• Ability to set high expectations, drive accountability and secure improvement through leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic Mathematics curriculum and teaching across TMET secondary schools.
• Provide expert leadership, inspire and develop colleagues, champion evidence-informed practice.
• Drive sustained improvements in Mathematics achievement across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.

Job description

We are excited to appoint the Trust Director of Maths to join our welcoming and ambitious team Central Team within The Mead Educational Trust (TMET). The Trust Director of Maths provides strategic leadership for the teaching of Maths across the trust, An enhanced DBS check with a check of the barred lists is required for all roles working with children. As part of our safer recruitment process and in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) 2025, we will also carry out:

We welcome applicants who can demonstrate:

• Extensive experience of leading Mathematics education within a secondary school setting, with a deep understanding of effective Mathematics curriculum design, teaching and assessment.
• Recent highly effective experience of teaching Mathematics, with a proven track record of securing strong student outcomes and demonstrating effective leadership.
• Experience of leading Mathematics improvement across a department, school or group of schools, resulting in sustained improvements in teaching quality, curriculum implementation, student progress and attainment.
• Evidence of developing the long-term capabilities of others through collaboration, coaching and professional development.
• Evidence of the ability to set high expectations, drive accountability and secure improvement through effective leadership and influence.

The Trust Director of Maths will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering an ambitious Mathematics strategy across The Mead Educational Trust's secondary schools. This is a key leadership position designed to secure excellence in Mathematics curriculum, teaching and outcomes for all students.
