Job summary

Yate Academy in England is seeking an enthusiastic Director of Maths to lead our maths provision, shaping an ambitious curriculum and driving teaching and learning to help pupils excel. You will work with staff to foster a culture of high expectations and continuous improvement across the department.

You will lead curriculum development for Key Stage 5, monitor performance, support colleagues, and collaborate with senior leaders to raise standards and share best practice across the Greenshaw

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as Director of the subject or subject Head (desirable).
  • Knowledge of strategies to inspire and improve outcomes for students.
  • Outstanding organisational skills to ensure efficient and effective implementation of the role.

Job description

At Yate Academy, we are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Director of Maths to lead our maths provision and contribute to the continued success of our school. In this rewarding leadership role, you will work closely with staff to develop an ambitious curriculum, enhance teaching and learning, and create a culture where pupils are motivated to excel and achieve their very best., This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced teacher and leader to shape the strategic direction of the department, support and develop colleagues, and foster a culture of high expectations and continuous improvement. As Director of Department, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring an engaging and ambitious curriculum is delivered effectively, enabling every pupil to achieve their full potential. You will work closely with senior leaders and colleagues across the school to raise standards, share best practice and contribute to the wider success of the school. Main duties of the role include:

  • Teaching Maths up to Key Stage 5
  • To oversee/organise curriculum delivery within the Maths department.
  • Make available full, up-to-date schemes of work, for the subject within the Learning Area.
  • Encouraging the selection of suitable teaching and learning approaches and subject matter in providing a differentiated approach to students.
  • To lead, develop & enhance the teaching practice of others including participation in performance management/appraisal arrangements.
  • Monitor and analyse the academic performance of students on an ongoing basis and provide relevant reports when requested.
  • Devise and implement appropriate intervention strategies.
  • To share and support the school's responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for academic growth for both yourself and that of your direct reports.
  • As a leadership role within the Maths department, arrange department meetings, intellectual preparation and lead on all aspects of curriculum development.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues in the Maths Department and across the Greenshaw Learning Trust to plan lessons which ensure outstanding progress for all students.
  • Adhering to the school's principles of teaching, learning and assessment.
    Excellent classroom practitioner.
  • Previous experience as a Director of the subject or subject Head (desirable)
  • Knowledge of strategies to inspire and improve outcomes for students
  • Outstanding organisational skills to ensure efficient and effective implementation of the role
  • Knowledge of strategies to recognise and reward efforts and achievements and the ability to encourage students to become self-reliant and independent learner
  • Detailed knowledge of current curriculum and pedagogical developments in the teaching of your subject and the wider curriculum
  • Ability to teach A-level Maths and Further Maths
  • Able to establish good working relationships with a wide range of people - students, colleagues and parents
  • Commitment to high standards and expectations
