Job summary

Corehr is seeking a highly motivated research technician to join the School of Environmental Sciences Technical Services Team to support a climate monitoring project and seed spectroscopy development. This fixed-term post involves substantial fieldwork, international travel, and collaboration with external partners.

The role reports to the Technical Services Team Leader and supports Dr Belen Fadrique's Tropical Ecology project.

Qualifications

• Role requires highly motivated, reliable research technician to support climate monitoring project.
• Includes fieldwork 4-5 months per year in tropical mountain locations.
• Involves training field teams and developing seed spectroscopy protocols.
• Liaises with external collaborators and manages equipment permits.

Responsibilities

• Lead installation and commissioning of climate monitoring stations in remote field locations.
• Assemble climate stations, sensors and dendrometers.
• Coordinate organisation and deployment of equipment in the field, including permits and contracts.
• Install climate stations and sensors in tropical mountain forests with planned locations.
• Organise and supervise equipment maintenance and remote data acquisition.
• Develop seed spectroscopy protocols and run seed spectroscopy samples.
• Provide technical and logistical support for other lab projects as required.
