Postdoctoral Research Fellow – Climate Science / Earth System Modelling

The University of Exeter is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join a dynamic and internationally recognised research team working in climate science and Earth system modelling. This position is part of a funded research project focused on advancing understanding of climate processes, variability, and future projections through the use of advanced numerical models and data analysis techniques.

The successful candidate will contribute to the development and application of climate or Earth system models, analyse large and complex datasets, and collaborate with interdisciplinary researchers to address pressing environmental challenges. Responsibilities include conducting independent and collaborative research, publishing findings in high-impact journals, contributing to grant development, and supporting the broader research activities of the group. The role may also involve presenting research at national and international conferences and engaging with stakeholders where relevant.

Eligibility Criteria

Required Expertise/Skills
Experience working with climate or Earth system models
Strong programming skills (e.g., Python, Fortran, MATLAB, or similar)
Expertise in analysing large scientific datasets
Strong quantitative and analytical abilities
Ability to conduct independent research and contribute to collaborative projects
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience publishing in peer-reviewed journals is desirable

Salary Details
£32,982 to £39,347 per annum (Grade E, depending on qualifications and experience)
