Arboricultural Surveyor – 3 Month Contract
Location: Walsall
Rate: £21.64 per hour (Umbrella)
Contract Duration: 3 Months
Weekly Hours: 37
Working Schedule: 07:30 – 15:30
Work Pattern: Hybrid – 3 Days On-Site
Payment Frequency: Bi-weekly
Walsall Council is in search of a skilled Arboricultural Surveyor to enhance the management, upkeep, and growth of the Council's tree resources and Urban Forestry initiatives. This role demands extensive arboricultural expertise and hands‑on experience in tree evaluations, risk assessment, woodland analysis, and urban forestry. You will be pivotal in maintaining the Council's tree database, providing guidance on tree management, and aiding in the execution of the Urban Forestry Strategy. The position offers a dynamic range of tasks, including tree surveys, client interactions, woodland management planning, contractor oversight, and participation in broader environmental and landscaping projects.
Requirements:
Ideal for candidates with experience as an Arboricultural Surveyor, Tree Officer, Arborist, Urban Forestry Officer, Tree Inspector, Arboricultural Consultant, Woodland Officer, or Environmental Services Surveyor.

Essential Requirements Practical experience within: Arboriculture Tree Inspection Urban Forestry Environmental Services Strong knowledge of tree risk assessment and management. Experience surveying and inspecting trees in an operational environment. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Strong organisational and workload management skills. Ability to work independently and use initiative. Understanding of Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices. Experience using tree management and asset management systems.
Essential Qualifications Level 3 Tree Inspection Certificate (or equivalent) Full UK Driving Licence IOSH Qualification or willingness to obtain NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Arboriculture, Horticulture, Green Spaces, or related environmental discipline.
Desirable Experience Woodland management planning. Urban Forestry programmes. Local Authority arboricultural services. Contractor supervision and contract management. Funding applications and environmental improvement schemes.
