Job summary

Walsall Council seeks an experienced Arboricultural Surveyor to manage tree assets, risk assessment, and urban forestry initiatives. The role involves surveys, woodland work, contractor oversight, and interaction with residents and officials within a dynamic environmental services team.

The ideal candidate holds Level 3 Tree Inspection certification and a UK driving licence, with strong communication, organisation, and independent working abilities.

Qualifications

• Practical experience in arboriculture, tree inspection, urban forestry and environmental services.
• In-depth knowledge of tree risk assessment and management is required.
• Experience with tree surveys in practical settings and delivering results to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Conduct surveys and evaluations of the Council's tree assets.
• Evaluate tree health and propose risk management strategies.
• Contribute to implementing the Urban Forestry Strategy.
• Aid in maintaining the tree inventory database and related systems.
• Prioritize work based on risk and operational needs.
• Survey woodlands and support management plans and funding proposals.
