Job summary

Carrington West is seeking a Tree Inspector to join a council team in the West Midlands. You will inspect the council's tree stock, assess conditions and risk, and help manage urban forestry initiatives across Walsall. Your expertise will support safe, attractive spaces for local communities.

You will maintain records, provide expert advice, and contribute to the Council's Tree Risk Management and urban forestry strategy. A relevant qualification and driving licence are required.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence, including Driver CPC.
• Level 3 Tree Inspection Certificate in Arboriculture or equivalent.
• NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in an environmental discipline such as horticulture, green spaces or arboriculture.
• IOSH accreditation or ability to attain this.

Responsibilities

• Carry out regular inspections and surveys of the Council's tree stock, including individual trees, groups and woodlands.
• Assess tree condition and risk, making informed decisions about appropriate management and prioritisation of works.
• Maintain and manage the Council's tree inventory and associated records.
• Make recommendations for tree works in accordance with relevant legislation, national standards and Council policies.
• Assist with the management of the Council's Tree Risk Management programme.

Are you a Tree Inspector looking for your next role?

This is an exciting opportunity for an arboricultural professional to play a key role in managing and protecting the Council's extensive tree stock, while helping to create safe, attractive and sustainable spaces for local communities. Working across Walsall, you will use your specialist knowledge of arboriculture, tree inspection and urban forestry to assess trees, manage risk, provide expert advice and support the delivery of the Council's Urban Forestry Strategy.
