Job summary

NatCen is recruiting Field Interviewers in Newcastle to conduct in-home interviews across assigned areas, collecting participants' views on health, housing, transport and daily life. You will travel between locations, follow structured questionnaires on a NatCen device, and contribute to important public-interest research.

No prior research experience is required; strong listening, communication and people-skills are valued. Flexible weekday, evening and weekend availability is expected.

Qualifications

• No prior research experience required; you can build trust, ask questions clearly, listen carefully and represent NatCen professionally.

Responsibilities

• Visit selected addresses across an assigned area and carry out in-home research interviews on issues that matter, including health, housing, transport and public services.
• You’ll use a NatCen device to guide structured interviews and accurately record responses.
• Travel-based role with route planning support; travel times around 30–60 minutes each way; occasional longer journeys and overnight stays.
• You’re not selling anything — you’re listening and helping ensure real experiences are heard.
