Job summary

Thomas Ashton School in Hyde is seeking a Level 2 Teaching Assistant to support pupils with SEMH and complex needs. The role combines permanent and fixed-term opportunities with a pro rata salary and SEN allowance, commencing January 2027.

The successful candidate will create a nurturing, structured environment, establish consistent routines, and work closely with teachers and families to support learning and emotional wellbeing within a specialist SEMH setting.

Qualifications

• Experience working with pupils with SEMH and SEND
• Ability to build nurturing relationships and maintain consistent routines
• Willingness to work as part of a team in a specialist SEMH setting

Responsibilities

• Create a nurturing, structured and highly predictable environment for pupils to learn
• Establish and maintain consistent routines to reduce anxiety and increase confidence
• Support pupils to understand expectations through patience, repetition and positive relationships
• Use play, creativity and therapeutic approaches to support engagement and emotional development
• Help pupils develop communication, emotional literacy and self-regulation skills
• Be a reliable and consistent adult presence pupils can trust and depend on daily
• Work closely with teachers, families and external professionals to provide consistent approaches around the child
