Job summary

Compass Community Schools in Newton-le-Willows is opening a brand new provision welcoming pupils in January 2027. Level 2 Teaching Assistants are needed to support children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH) in a trauma-informed environment.

The role involves 1:1 and small-group work, classroom support, trips and activities, and keeping children safe. Apprenticeships are available for TA Level 3 or Special TA Level 5 for career development.

Qualifications

• No formal qualification required; experience with children valued.
• Experience in education or other settings is beneficial.
• Apprenticeships available for TA Level 3 or Special TA Level 5.

Responsibilities

• Support teachers in the classroom.
• Work with children 1:1 or in small groups.
• Manage classroom resources and keep learners safe.
• Take children on trips and visits.
• Participate in therapy sessions or reflective practice.
