Job summary

Thomas Ashton School seeks Level 3 Teaching Assistants to join its Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 provisions. The role requires a relational, trauma-informed approach to support pupils with complex SEMH needs and challenging contexts.

Successful candidates will help establish consistent routines and support emotional wellbeing within a nurturing environment. Hours are 32.5 per week (TTO) with 195 days; salary is on NJC scale 12-17 (£29,542–£32,046 full-time) with pro‑rata actual salary

Qualifications

• Experience supporting pupils with SEN and SEMH needs.
• Ability to build trusting relationships with pupils and staff.
• Calm, trauma-informed and relational approach to learning.

Responsibilities

• Create a nurturing, structured and predictable environment for pupils.
• Establish routines to reduce anxiety and build confidence.
• Support pupils to develop communication, emotional literacy and self-regulation.
• Provide targeted interventions and monitor pupil progress.
