Job summary

AWD online is seeking a dedicated Support Worker / Caseworker in Birmingham to aid women facing complex social challenges through trauma-informed casework within a specialist court programme. You will coordinate assessments, support plans, advocacy and referrals while maintaining professional boundaries.

This 18-month fixed-term role requires a flexible approach to hours and a commitment to safeguarding and partnership working within a women’s justice service.

Qualifications

• Essential: This post is open to women only as an occupational requirement under Schedule 9 (Part 1) of the Equality Act 2010.
• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant subject involving work with adults and/or children, or demonstrable equivalent experience.
• Experience supporting vulnerable people, safeguarding and complex needs.
• Experience managing a caseload, using risk assessments and maintaining case notes/reports.
• Experience in multi-agency settings and delivering intervention programmes.
• Understanding of trauma-informed approaches, safeguarding, GDPR, health and safety.
• Strong communication, organisation and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Case Management: Manage risk and needs assessments, support plans, outcomes, reviews and timely case management records.
• One-to-One Support: Provide trauma-informed emotional and practical support tailored to individual needs.
• Programmes and Workshops: Facilitate interventions on parenting, self-esteem, healthy relationships, domestic abuse, relaxation and communication.
• Advocacy and Partnership Working: Represent clients and work with criminal justice, health, employment, education and other partner agencies.
• Court Reviews: Attend regular court reviews and support service users to progress through relevant programmes.
• Safeguarding: Identify and elevate safeguarding concerns involving children or vulnerable adults.
• Specialist Support Pathways: Help service users access appropriate support relating to domestic abuse, sexual violence or exploitation.
• Monitoring and Reporting: Maintain records and provide monitoring, case notes, reports and outcomes.
