Job summary

AWD online in Birmingham is seeking a Support Worker / Caseworker to provide trauma-informed emotional and practical support to women with complex needs within community-based court orders.

You will manage a caseload, coordinate assessments, advocacy and referrals, and work with criminal justice, health, housing and other partners to help women progress through the Intensive Supervision Court Women’s Specialist programme.

Qualifications

• GCSE English & Maths (or equivalent) at minimum.
• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant subject.
• Experience supporting vulnerable people and safeguarding.
• Ability to work with adults/children in multi-agency settings.

Responsibilities

• Case management including risk and needs assessments and reviews.
• Provide trauma-informed emotional and practical support one-to-one.
• Facilitate interventions and workshops on related topics.
• Advocate and work with partner agencies in CJ, health and housing.
• Attend court reviews and support progression through programmes.
• Identify safeguarding concerns and escalate as needed.
• Support pathways relating to abuse, violence or exploitation.
• Maintain records, notes and reports of outcomes.

Support Worker / Caseworker

Make a meaningful difference supporting women with complex needs through trauma-informed casework, risk assessment and practical support. You’ll manage a caseload, work with partner agencies and help women progress through a specialist court programme.

SALARY: £25,268 per annum + Benefits

LOCATION: Based in Birmingham, West Midlands and across the Black Country

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, 18 Month Fixed Term Contract

WORKING HOURS: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm; flexibility may be needed for daytime, evening and some weekend work

JOB OVERVIEW

Working with criminal justice, health, housing and other partners, the Support Worker / Caseworker coordinates assessments, support plans, advocacy and referrals while maintaining clear professional boundaries.

The Support Worker / Caseworker also supports court reviews, delivers interventions and workshops, and contributes to accurate monitoring, case records and reports across a collaborative women’s justice service.

DUTIES

Your duties as the Support Worker / Caseworker include:

• Case Management: Manage risk and needs assessments, support plans, outcomes, reviews and timely case management records

• One-to-One Support: Provide trauma-informed emotional and practical support tailored to individual needs

• Programmes and Workshops: Facilitate interventions on topics including parenting, self-esteem, healthy relationships, domestic abuse, relaxation and communication

• Advocacy and Partnership Working: Represent clients and work with criminal justice, health, employment, education and other partner agencies

• Court Reviews: Attend regular court reviews and support service users to progress through relevant programmes

• Safeguarding: Identify and escalation safeguarding concerns involving children or vulnerable adults

• Specialist Support Pathways: Help service users access appropriate support relating to domestic abuse, sexual violence or exploitation

• Monitoring and Reporting: Maintain records and provide monitoring, case notes, reports and outcomes

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL

• This post is open to women only as an occupational requirement under Schedule 9 (Part 1) of the Equality Act 2010

• GCSE Grade C (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics

• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant subject involving work with adults and/or children, or demonstrable equivalent experience

• Previous experience supporting vulnerable people, responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns and working with people with complex needs

• Previous experience managing a caseload, using risk assessments and intervention tools, and preparing accurate case notes and reports

• Previous experience working in multi-agency settings and delivering intervention programmes or evidence-based interventions

• Understanding of trauma-informed approaches, domestic and sexual violence, safeguarding, GDPR, health and safety, and relevant good practice

• Strong communication, organisation, crisis management and relationship-building skills, with the ability to maintain professional boundaries

• Ability to use Microsoft Office and virtual platforms

• Eligible to work in the UK

DESIRABLE

• Understanding of motivational interviewing

• Knowledge of the Violence Against Women and Girls Strategy and policy relating to female offenders

• Previous experience working within a tendered, formally contracted or commissioned arrangement

• Current driving licence and access to a vehicle

• Willingness to work evenings and weekends when required
