Job summary

Newland St John’s CE Primary Academy, Hull, is seeking an Education and Welfare Support Officer to work closely with our pastoral team, safeguarding leads, and external agencies to provide guidance, mentoring, and practical support to students facing complex emotional or social challenges.

You will support vulnerable pupils, including those with SEMH needs, CLA, and those at risk, delivering one-to-one and small group interventions, liaising with families, and helping coordinate external support

Qualifications

Experience working with children and young people in a safeguarding context.
Knowledge of safeguarding legislation and inclusive pastoral care principles.
Experience as an ELSA or in trauma-informed interventions is desirable.

Responsibilities

Support vulnerable pupils with one-to-one and small group interventions.
Liaise with families and coordinate external support services as needed.
Contribute to attendance and welfare strategies and safeguarding processes.
Conduct home visits and collaborate with safeguarding leads and external agencies.
Support students to feel safe, valued and ready to learn.
Work in partnership with the Trust Safeguarding practices and policy framework.
