Job summary

Keys Education in Colchester is recruiting a SEND Teaching Assistant to support SEMH and Autism provision for pupils across Key Stages 2 to 4. You will help pupils access the curriculum and make progress, under teacher guidance.

The role emphasises trauma-informed approaches, behavioural support, and collaboration with the SENDCO and teaching staff to create a safe, supportive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years’ experience in a SEND environment or similar provision.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupils’ welfare.
• An enhanced DBS check is standard for the role.

Responsibilities

• Assist pupils with learning activities under teacher guidance.
• Support pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development using trauma-informed approaches.
• Help manage behaviour in line with the school policy and staff code of conduct.
• Encourage pupil engagement and independence in learning tasks.
• Assist with classroom organisation and preparation of resources.
• Support record-keeping and monitoring of pupil progress.
