Job summary

Compass Community Schools seeks HLTA staff to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs in a trauma-informed setting. Staff provide targeted 1:1 and small group work, help manage behaviours, and contribute to therapy-informed practice to improve outcomes for children.

Role requires flexibility, resilience and collaboration with teachers, therapists and parents, with opportunities for training and professional development within a supportive school environment.

Responsibilities

• supporting teachers in the classroom
• working with children 1:1 or in small groups
• managing classroom resources
• taking children on trips and visits
• having lunch with children who struggle socially
• managing heightened behaviours and keeping children safe
• playing board games
• conducting science experiments
• creating displays
• celebrating success
• participating in therapy sessions or reflecting on difficult periods
