Job summary

Compass Community Schools in Tipton is seeking an enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant to support children with SEMH and SEND. You will work closely with teachers to deliver focused support, manage resources and help create a safe, engaging learning environment.

Our HLTA role requires resilience, flexibility, and a willingness to adapt to varied needs, including group sessions, 1:1 support, and participating in therapy-style activities to promote positive outcomes for children.

Responsibilities

• supporting teachers in the classroom
• working with children 1:1 or delivering sessions with small groups of students
• managing classroom resources
• taking children on trips and visits
• having their lunch with children who struggle socially
• managing heightened behaviours and keeping children safe
• playing board games
• celebrating success
• part of therapy sessions or reflecting on difficult periods
