Job summary

Manchester City Council is recruiting a Domestic Abuse Caseworker within the Community Safety Team. You will support residents experiencing domestic abuse, coordinating safeguarding and housing services to reduce risk and improve outcomes.

The role requires risk assessment, trauma‑informed practice and collaboration with partners across health, police and social care. A driving licence and DBS clearance are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting vulnerable individuals, including domestic abuse or safeguarding concerns.
• Experience assessing risk and implementing effective support plans.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with residents and agencies.
• Ability to manage a varied caseload, prioritise work and maintain records.
• Good problem solving and decision making in complex situations.
• Competent IT skills including Microsoft Office and case management systems.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
• Ability to obtain and maintain an Enhanced DBS check.

Responsibilities

• Join a team dedicated to protecting residents, reducing harm and delivering positive outcomes.
• Lead on managing domestic abuse cases within Housing Services, ensuring timely support.
• Undertake risk assessments and develop safety plans centred on the victim.
• Coordinate interventions with statutory, voluntary and community partners.
• Ensure safeguarding concerns are identified and escalated when needed.
• Apply trauma‑informed, victim‑centred approaches in all casework.
• Collaborate with housing, social care, health, police and domestic abuse organisations.
• Support residents to improve safety, wellbeing and long-term stability.
• Use professional judgement to balance risk and find practical solutions.
• Contribute to creating safer communities and reducing abuse.
