Job summary

Manchester City Council is seeking a Domestic Abuse Caseworker to join the Community Safety Team. You will lead domestic abuse case management, undertake risk assessments, and coordinate with housing, social care, health professionals, and police to deliver timely, victim-centred support.

This role requires safeguarding experience, strong communication, and the ability to manage complex caseloads. The role supports victims, promotes safety, and contributes to safer communities across the city.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting vulnerable individuals, including those affected by domestic abuse or safeguarding concerns.
• Experience assessing risk and implementing effective support plans.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with residents and partner agencies.
• Ability to manage a varied caseload, prioritise work and maintain accurate records.
• Good problem-solving and decision-making in complex situations.
• IT skills including Microsoft Office and case management systems.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
• Ability to obtain and maintain an Enhanced DBS check.

Responsibilities

• Lead on the management of domestic abuse cases received by Housing Services, ensuring victims receive timely and effective support.
• Undertake risk assessments and develop robust safety plans prioritising the victim's needs.
• Coordinate support with statutory, voluntary and community partners for coordinated responses.
• Ensure safeguarding concerns are identified, managed and escalated where needed.
• Apply a trauma-informed, victim-centred approach across casework.
• Work with housing, social care, health professionals, GMP and domestic abuse organisations to provide joined-up assistance.
• Support residents to improve safety, wellbeing and long-term stability.
• Use professional judgement to balance risk and find practical solutions.
