The State of South Carolina | Department of Transportation is seeking an experienced supervisor to lead engineering and inspection efforts for roadway and bridge projects in Darlington and Marlboro counties. You will manage staff, ensure plans and cost estimates meet established guidelines, and maintain thorough daily reports and checklists.

You will collaborate with contractors to ensure adherence to plans, resolve construction problems, and assist in emergency operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Science and Management.
• One year of engineering or construction management work experience or an approved acceptable equivalence.

Responsabilités

• Supervises staff in administrative functions for engineering and related correspondence.
• Ensures final plans and monthly pay estimates are completed and submitted per SCDOT guidelines.
• Prepares cost estimates for new projects and monitors daily work reports and project checklists.
• Supervises engineering and inspection duties on roadway and bridge projects in Darlington and Marlboro Counties.
• Monitors construction activities to ensure adherence to specifications, plans, and contracts.
• Obtains and submits samples for testing; resolves issues in roadway and bridge construction.
• Oversees resources on road projects, resurfacing contracts, and bridge construction within the unit.
• Ensures contractor compliance with erosion and storm water regulations; assists with erosion control plans.
• Inspections performed per SCOOT guidelines; traffic control inspections per SCDOT guidelines.
• Assists the public with complaints; reviews plans with property owners for impacts and solutions.
• Evaluates performance appraisals and supports emergency/inclement weather operations.
