Job summary

Culina, the UK's leading independent specialist supply chain partner, invites applications for a Transport Shift Manager - Nights. Based in our Transport Logistics division, you will work 4 on 4 off nights (18:00–6:00) to ensure the busy transport operation runs smoothly while achieving KPI targets and complying with legal requirements.

You will lead driver resource planning, safety checks, audits, and liaison with customers and site management to resolve issues quickly.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Myworkforce team ensuring compliance of all activity and cost-effective utilisation of all drivers and equipment.
• Own, monitor and control the driver de-briefing process to ensure performance standards are met.
• Manage and support driver workforce while engaged on activity to ensure legal compliance and up-to-date records.
• Manage driver performance to meet or exceed KPIs.
• Promote Health & Safety and employment policies within transport operations.
• Maintain personnel files with licences, training and personal details.
• Support site audits and work with Transport Manager to meet KPIs.
• Assist daily operational workflow on the customer site and answer urgent queries.
• Work with customer/site management to address concerns promptly.
• Recruit permanent and temporary staff to cover peaks.
• Escalate maintenance and repair issues on site and within depot.

Job description

As part of our Transport Logistics division, we have an exciting opportunity to join the team as a Transport Shift Manager - Nights. As a Transport Shift Manager will work collaboratively to ensure effective running of a busy transport operation, ensuring that Operational KPIs are met and that the operations are conducted strictly in accordance with legal requirements, whilst helping to formulate and deliver the short, medium and long-term resource plans for your area. Working hours: 4 on 4 off nights, 18:00-6:00

• Work collaboratively with our Myworkforce team ensuring compliance of all MWF activity and tasks including resource planning and managing the safety and cost-effective utilisation of all drivers and equipment.
• Responsible for owning, monitor and controlling the driver de-briefing process to ensure that agreed standards of performance are consistently achieved by effective communication and management.
• To manage and support driver workforce all drivers whilst engaged on activity to ensure full legal compliance. Ensure records are correctly completed and maintained in accordance to the procedure.
• Manage all aspects of driver performance to achieve or surpass expectations and KPI's.
• Promote company Health & Safety and employment policies within the transport operation.
• Ensuring all personnel files are up to date incorporating licence validation, personal details, completed training.
• Responsible for site audits and works closely with the Transport Manager to ensure KPI's are met.
• To support the daily operational workflow on the customer site by providing answers to urgent queries.
• Actively work with the customer and site management team to achieve performance addressing any concerns or questions within a timely manner.
• Manage the recruitment of permanent and temporary staff as required to cover business peaks.
• Ensure that the Transport Manager & the H& S team are made aware of all accidents, dangerous occurrences & near misses and that the relevant reports are completed for all such incidents.
• Responsible for identifying and escalating any maintenance and repair issues on site and within depot.
• Ensure that all daily vehicle check, vehicle inspection & defect reporting procedures are in place.
• Proven track record in Transport & Logistics industry.
