Job summary

Staffordshire County Council is seeking a Project Engineer in Highway Development Management to provide detailed responses on planning applications, focusing on transport and highway safety. The role involves liaising with Local Planning Authorities and contributing to sustainable estate street designs in line with Design Guides.

The ideal candidate will be a Chartered/Graduate civil engineer with transport planning experience, possess a full driving licence, and thrive in a hybrid working

Qualifications

• Chartered/Graduate civil engineering background with transport planning experience.
• Experience with planning applications and S278/S38 agreements.
• Ability to work with internal and external partners and manage multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed comments on planning applications for highway and transport elements.
• Audit Transport Assessments and Travel Plans using GIS and accessibility tools.
• Lead pre-application discussions for sustainable estate street layouts per design guides.
• Attend planning committee sessions as a statutory consultee when required.
• Support Development Plan Policies and Staffordshire Local Transport Plan implementation.
