Job summary

Carrington West is seeking an experienced Highway Engineer to join a Local Authority in the West Midlands on an initial 2-year contract, with potential for a 12-month extension. The role involves designing and delivering highway and transport improvement schemes, including Safer Routes to School and Healthy Streets projects.

You will work closely with local councillors, internal teams and stakeholders to take schemes from initial design through procurement and delivery, producing AutoCAD

Qualifications

• Experience in highway engineering and scheme design, ideally within a Local Authority.
• Experience designing highway safety improvements and traffic calming.
• Knowledge of Safer Routes to School and Healthy Streets principles.
• Experience using AutoCAD to produce highway drawings.
• Ability to manage schemes from design through procurement.
• Relevant degree or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop highway and transport safety schemes.
• Prepare highway drawings and scheme layouts using AutoCAD.
• Engage with councillors, residents and stakeholders during scheme development.
• Progress schemes through procurement and delivery.
• Ensure compliance with highway design standards.
• Manage multiple schemes to meet timescales.
