Job summary

SIG Plc is seeking a Transport Planner to manage the planning and delivery of orders, ensuring efficient use and coordination of the fleet to serve customers across our network.

You will act as the main liaison between fleet operations, drivers, the warehouse team and sales, planning routes, scheduling and coaching drivers to deliver an outstanding service.

This role could suit an experienced Transport Administrator or a highly experienced HGV driver looking to move into Transport Planning.

Qualifications

• MS Office including Excel proficiency.
• Experience in planning multiple delivery schedules.
• Knowledge of safety and legal compliance.
• Self-motivation with ability to prioritise and maintain an excellent telephone manner.

Responsibilities

• Plan and oversee all driver matters, including route planning and scheduling.
• Coach, support and debrief drivers to maintain service quality.
• Liaise between fleet operations, drivers, warehouse and sales to ensure outstanding customer service.

SIG Plc. is a leading supplier of specialist building materials to trade customers across Europe with strong positions in its core markets as a specialist distributor of insulation and interiors products and as a merchant of roofing and exteriors products.

We are currently looking to recruit a Transport Planner who will be responsible for managing the planning and delivery of orders to our customers through ensuring efficient usage and co-ordination of all the fleet assets.

What does the role involve?

As Transport Planner, you will possess strong communication skills as you will be the main liaison point between fleet operations, Drivers, the warehouse team, and sales. You will plan and oversee all matters related to the Drivers, including route planning and scheduling, coaching, supporting, and debriefing them to achieve an outstanding service to customers, using the Transport Planning Tool. This role would suit either an experienced Transport Administrator or possibly a highly experienced HGV Driver looking to make the move into Transport Planning.

The successful candidate will require:

• Proficient in MS Office, including Excel
• Experience in planning multiple delivery schedules
• Knowledge of safety and legal compliance
• Self-motivation, being able to prioritise work and meet deadlines as well as an excellent telephone manner
