Job summary

Platinum Transport Solutions Ltd is seeking an experienced Transport Planner/Co-ordinator to join our Belvedere-based transport desk team. You will be responsible for booking jobs, maximising vehicle profitability, planning routes and managing the driver’s day while addressing issues as they arise.

The role involves handling client queries via email and phone, promoting our logistical solutions and freight forwarding services, and ensuring clients are aware of all the services we provide.

Qualifications

• Experience working on a transport desk and coordinating drivers.
• Understanding of sizes and dimensions of trucks and their capabilities.
• Ability to think on your feet and resolve problems under pressure.
• Knowledge of drivers' hours and road haulage compliance.

Founded in 2001, we are a FORS Gold Moffett operator based in Belvedere, Kent.

With over 20 trucks and a 50,000 sq ft consolidation centre, we provide specialised transport to clients both in the UK and internationally.

We are looking for an experienced Transport Planner/Co-ordinator to join our transport desk team.

You will be responsible for the booking of jobs, maximising vehicle profitability, route planning, managing the driver's day as well as dealing with any issues which may arise throughout the day.

The job involves answering of queries via both email and phone from clients wishing to book a truck, ensuring the customer gets the right vehicle for the job. Selling our logistical solutions & freight forwarding and ensuring potential customers know of all the services we provide.

The ideal candidate will have experience working on a transport desk, dealing with drivers and have an understanding of sizes and dimensions of trucks and their capabilities. Being able to think outside the box to find a solution and deal with problems under pressure is important. As we are a small team, reliability, punctuality as well as an understanding of drivers' hours and road haulage compliance is a must.

The job is Monday - Friday with every 3rd week on call for any out-of-hours requirements. Whilst out-of-hours calls are rare, the successful candidate would be expected to deal with them with the use of a company mobile & laptop should they arise.

We are keen on training our staff from within therefore this role is perfect for someone who is looking to improve their skillset and grow within the business.

Transport Manager CPC is not required, however would be an advantage.
