Job summary

Workforce Staffing Ltd is recruiting for an experienced Transport Planner to join a well-established logistics operation in Droitwich. The role involves planning efficient routes, managing loads and driver schedules, and ensuring on-time deliveries while supporting drivers throughout shifts.

The ideal candidate will have experience on a transport desk, knowledge of transport legislation, and strong IT skills including Excel.

Qualifications

• Experience as Transport Planner, Traffic Planner, Transport Coordinator or similar.
• Good geographical knowledge.
• Strong understanding of transport legislation, regulations and compliance.
• DVSA/VOSA compliance experience.
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel.
• Experience using Stirling or a similar Transport Management System is advantageous.
• National CPC desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Plan efficient and cost-effective delivery routes and schedules.
• Plan journeys, loads and driver schedules.
• Manage and prioritise workloads across the transport operation.
• Provide driver briefings and debriefings.
• Monitor deliveries and proactively manage delays and missed time slots.
• Communicate with drivers, customers, suppliers and other transport teams.
• Liaise with other depots to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
• Booking agency drivers to meet operational requirements.
• Monitoring driver performance and transport compliance.
• Working closely with drivers and the Compliance team to minimise infringements.
• Ensuring vehicles and trailers are available for inspections and compliance requirements.
• Maintaining accurate records and information on transport systems.
• Using Excel and transport planning systems to manage operational data.
• Supporting colleagues and management with transport-related queries and issues.
• Ensuring all health & safety and operational procedures are followed.

Workforce Staffing are recruiting for an experienced Transport Planner to join a well-established and growing logistics operation based in Droitwich.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous experience working on a transport desk or within a busy transport operation, who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, solving problems and making decisions quickly.

You will play an important role in the day-to-day running of the transport operation, ensuring routes and loads are planned efficiently, deliveries are completed on time and drivers are fully supported throughout their shifts.

The Role

As a Transport Planner, your responsibilities will include:

We are looking for someone with:

• Previous experience as a Transport Planner, Traffic Planner, Transport Coordinator or similar
• Good geographical knowledge
• A strong understanding of transport legislation, regulations and compliance
• Experience with DVSA/VOSA compliance
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills
• The ability to prioritise effectively and work under pressure
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel
• Experience using Stirling or a similar Transport Management System is advantageous
• A proactive, flexible and positive can-do attitude
• The ability to work independently and as part of a wider transport team
• National CPC desirable but not essential
