Job summary

Aspion is seeking an experienced Transport Planner in Ellesmere Port, Wirral to support UK-wide distribution. The role is temporary with a pro-rata salary of GBP32,000–GBP33,000, based on rota hours (6 am-3 pm or 8 am-5 pm).

You will manage route planning for container and bulk loads, monitor driver performance, and liaise with customers and drivers to minimise delays. The position requires knowledge of EU driver hours, strong customer service, and the ability to work under pressure.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in transport planning or similar role.
• Route planning experience with container or bulk tipper operations is advantageous.
• Knowledge of EU drivers' hours and Working Time Regulations.
• Strong customer service skills and ability to work under pressure.
• Good geographical knowledge of the North West and UK.

Responsibilities

• Route planning for container and bulk loads for UK-wide distribution
• Monitoring driver performance
• Assist with driver briefs and debriefs
• Collation of PODs and invoicing summaries
• Ensure all transport jobs are inputted into the system
• Review driver routes and plan to maximise efficiency
• Keep all customers informed of failed services or significant delays
• Daily planning and management of all subcontractors
• Provide the communication link between customers and drivers
• Supervising and managing driver workloads
• Managing drivers' daily activities in line with the Working Time Directive and Driving hours
• Ensuring every customer receives excellent customer service
• Investigating failed services and looking into ways to resolve site issues

Temporary Position

I m currently recruiting for an experienced Transport Planner to join a blue chip business that specialises in European and Global bulk & container freight.

They are seeking a Transport Planner to support the current transport operation in the management of route planning for UK container loads and bulk tippers.

The Candidate;

• Proven experience of working in a similar transport planning position
• Route planning experience within a container or bulk tipper operation is advantageous
• Experience of working within a fast paced, busy transport office
• Good knowledge of EU driver's hours and working time regulations
• Knowledge of port operations (desirable)
• Strong customer service skills
• Flexible approach
• Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
• Competent decision making
• Good geographical knowledge of the North West and UK

Duties and Responsibilities;

• Route planning for container and bulk loads for UK wide distribution
