Job summary

We Are Workforce Ltd in Cullompton is seeking a Transport Planner to coordinate daily HGV deliveries and collections. You will ensure vehicles and drivers are utilised efficiently while maintaining high standards of customer service, safety and compliance.

The role requires prior HGV transport planning experience, knowledge of UK road networks, and strong organisational skills. The position offers a 4-on, 4-off shift pattern (06:00–18:00) with training and career progression.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in HGV transport planning or a similar logistics role.
• Good knowledge of UK road networks and HGV regulations.
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Confident communicator with good attention to detail.
• Experience with transport management/planning software is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Plan daily HGV routes, loads and driver schedules.
• Allocate vehicles and drivers to jobs efficiently.
• Monitor deliveries and deal with delays or operational issues.
• Liaise with drivers, customers, subcontractors and depots.
• Ensure drivers' hours, vehicle restrictions and transport regulations are considered.
• Optimise vehicle utilisation and minimise empty running.
• Maintain accurate transport records and update planning systems.
• Communicate changes and provide customers with delivery updates.
